July 2011-July 2012 is a Jupiter year. Major economic reforms and initiatives are likely during this period as have happened in the past: the 16th Amendment in 1913 beginning the federal income tax and the establishment of the Federal Reserve by President Wilson. Also in a previous Jupiter year the radical Republican Reconstruction Act of 1866 took place. Higher taxes and reduced social benefits are likely this time. There will also be a radical change in governmental policy in order to reign in big government, reduce the national debt, and stimulate the economy. A major shift in foreign policy is likely as troops pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan.

America will continue to wage an aggressive campaign against insurgents, albeit, in covert and more selective means using drones, special forces, espionage, and cyber technology. Iran has been and will continue to be a focus of international attention. The U.S. will take a strong stand against Iranian nuclear ambitions without necessarily committing armed forces. We have hindered Iran’s weapons programs by secretly supplying faulty parts, plans or software. Unilateral action is unlikely because the U.S. Jupiter is in aspect with Venus and the Sun indicates alliances. Likely is an alliance with Israel’s Mossad and a fringe Iranian terrorist group (MEK). The recent deaths of two senior Iranian nuclear physicists and the wounding of a third, plus a bombing raid that killed Iranian workers at oil refineries and other civilian sites go against the executive order signed by President Ronald Reagan in 1981 prohibiting assassinations. The Barack Obama administration may be reinterpreting this order and working with Israel and MEK to launch sabotage attacks within Iranian. Iran suspects Israel of the January 2012 car bombing of another nuclear scientist.

The sophisticated Stuxnet attack that did considerable damage to nuclear facilities was a major setback to Iran. This cyber attack was probably (due to the Jupiter conjunction Venus in the U.S. horoscope) not done exclusively by the United Stated. Jupiter points to foreign influence, so what likely occurred was a joint effort to launch the Stuxnet virus. Further proof of a joint connection (Venus/Jupiter) is that U.S. government lawyers would not approve use of a computer virus that could spread far beyond the intended target as the Stuxnet virus did (China reported problems and damaged equipment).

The economy and foreign policy are two key themes for this Jupiter period. Jupiter also puts a strong spotlight on our relationship with the EU and various other nations around the world.

July 2012-July 2013 is a Venus year. Emphasis during this span of time will be on harmonizing the economy, establishing new agreements with friendly nations, and establishing peace rather than war. It should be noted, however, that Venus years are not necessarily peaceful. 1941 was a Venus year as was 1950 during the Korean War. 1959 brought a thaw to the Cold War during the Eisenhower administration. But nine years later the Vietnam slaughter was in full swing with near total anarchy in the States.

Armed conflict occurs frequently under Venus years in the U.S. horoscope because Venus is in conjunction with Jupiter. Jupiter is a very ambitious and ruthless influence. Jupiter dominates with beneficial influence or despotism. Command and conquest are key meanings for this expansive planet. So during Venus years a lighter and more festive attitude prevails during times of peace and prosperity. It also signals a return to moderation, balance and good fortune. If war becomes necessary in a Venus year, it is to establish peace, justice, and prosperity.

This Venus year will be especially good natured since July 2011 began a new 9-year Venus phase. [Every 9 years is represented by a different planet in the Diurnal Planet for a Year progression that sets the background for the nine individual planet years that comprise each 9-year phase.] 2002-2011 was a Mars phase with the Venus year being July 2002 – July 2003. This Mars period was marked by widespread war, violence, and hardship. The Venus 9-year phase that started in July 2011 spells a far more pleasant and prosperous period ahead - generally speaking. Australia, Indonesia, Japan, South America, most of central and south Africa, India, Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Syria, Russia, and China will play significant roles in new U.S. foreign involvement. Much of this participation will be trade, negotiations, pacts and treaties. Help and assistance, and peaceful co-existence are emphasized. There will be times of strife and violence but overall an approach by the U.S. will be toward calming troubled areas.

The 2012 election should restore a sense of ease and balance to the land. The political gridlock of the Jupiter year is about to end. The huge Republican win in the 2010 election was correctly predicted based on a Uranus weekly cycle peaking on November 9th that influenced the monthly Sun (president) cycle of the 15th. This indicated major, upsetting change to the presidency. The longer cycle of transiting Uranus on the U.S. Descendant also presaged the grassroots political revolt and the party infighting witnessed throughout 2010-2011. After July 2012, consensus will begin to infiltrate the system once again.
